Autumn School in Batumi

A joint project - Autumn School “Criminal Law and Human Rights” of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and the Institute of Georgian, German and International Criminal Law, was held in Batumi on 4-6 September 2020. The project discussed the urgent issues of Criminal Law, such as Criminal Law as an extreme means of interfering with personal liberty by the state, International and European effects on Georgian Criminal Law, COVID-19 as a challenge in German law, The importance of personal autonomy on the example of the legality of suicide assistance according to the decision of the German Federal Constitutional Court, Self-determination and personal freedom in Georgian law, Interrelationship between freedom and Criminal law. The lectures were leaded by the head of the school: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bachana Jishkariani , LL.M. (Munich) and invited lecturers: Mario Schütze (Jena, Tbilisi) and Guram Imnadze (Center for Human Rights Education and Monitoring) Law students from different universities of Georgia participated in the event.
