Spring School in Kakheti
 

A joint project - Spring School “Criminal Law and Human Rights” of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and the Institute of Georgian, German and International Criminal Law, was held in Kakheti on 27-29 May, 2022. The project discussed the urgent issues of Criminal Law, such as: State Intervention into Personal Liberty; COVID-19 as a Challenge in Georgian Law and Practice; Modern Georgian Criminal Policy – Liberalization or Tightening?; Evaluation of the Procedure Code reform in terms of improving human rights mechanisms (review the recommendations of the Venice Commission); Human Life as a Legal Good; New Criminal Compositions for Protecting Individual Legal Benefits; Criminal Law and the Purposes of Punishment – Individual Responsibility and Outer Factors Committing a Crime; Pandemic and the Right to Freedom – An Analyses of the Practice of the Constitutional Court; Criminal Protection of Women’s Rights and Access to Juvenile Justice, the Results Achieved and Challenges. The lectures were lead by the head of the school: Prof. Dr. Bachana Jishkariani, LL.M. (Munich) and invited lecturers: Guram Imnadze (Center for Human Rights Education and Monitoring) and Nino Tsatsiashvili (Former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia). Law students from different universities of Georgia participated in this project.
