Spring School in Telavi

A joint project - Spring School “Criminal Law and Human Rights” of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and the Institute of Georgian, German and International Criminal Law, was held in Telavi, Hotel Zuzumbo on 3-5 March, 2023. The project discussed the urgent issues of Criminal Law, such as: State Intervention into Personal Liberty; Challenges in Georgian Criminal Law Procedure; Modern German Criminal Policy – Liberalization or Tightening?; Evaluation of the Procedure Code reform in terms of improving human rights mechanisms; Stalking as a Crime; Sexual Offences—Challenges in Practice and in German Criminal Law; Social Networks and Criminal Law; (Criminal) Protection of Women’s Rights and Access to Juvenile Justice, the Results Achieved and Challenges. The lectures were led by the head of the school: Prof. Dr. Bachana Jishkariani , LL.M. (Munich) and invited lecturers: Prof. Martin Wassmer (Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Cologne) and Nino Tsatsiashvili (Former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia). Law students from different universities of Georgia (University of Georgia, Tbilisi State University, Ilia State University, Akaki Tsereteli State University, Eastern European University, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, International Black Sea University) participated in the project.
