Between October 29 and November 4, 2023, the University of Georgia welcomed the staff of the Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure law department from the University of Cologne, led by Professor Martin Wassmer, following an invitation from the Institute of Georgian, German, and International Criminal Law. Throughout their visit, a Georgian-German conference for young researchers was held, along with workshops at the Supreme Court of Georgia and the Bar Association. The visit also included a range of educational and cultural events. One of the main objectives of our institute is to promote the internationalization of the activities of young researchers. This was already the second visit from the University of Cologne covering similar content. On the Georgian side, PhD students from various Georgian universities participated in the conference.The founders of this Georgian-German project for young researchers are Prof. Bachana Jishkariani and Prof. Martin Wassmer. The event was co-sponsored by the School of Law of the University of Georgia and the University of Cologne.
