PRESENTATION OF THE GEORGIAN-GERMAN PUBLICATION
 

On May 28, 2025, the presentation of the book "German-Georgian Law Dialogue – Criminal Law and Human Rights" was organized by the Institute of Georgian, German and International Criminal Law of the Law School of the University of Georgia. The book was published with the financial support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation South Caucasus and covers issues such as official misconduct in Georgian criminal law and the potential influence of EU legislation; Combating corruption through the criminalisation of abuse of power; Acquisition of property through corrupt transactions; Criminal law and political protest; Pre-trial detention and the presumption of innocence; Prosecutorial discretion in filing charges etc. Contributors of the book are: Prof. Martin Wassmer (University of Cologne); Eva Kiel (Prosecutor, Hamburg); Hannes Klopmeier (Judge, Essen-Steele); Prof. Frank Zimmermann (University of Freiburg); Prof. Till Zimmermann (University of Düsseldorf); László Bak (Vice President, Hungarian Competition Authority); Prof. Irakli Dvalidze (Tbilisi State University); Besik Kvartskhava (District Prosecutor, Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia); Prof. Bachana Jishkariani (University of Georgia).
